Context & Assignment Details
Prolonged dry spells, shifting climate patterns, and inadequate water infrastructure have severely exacerbated drought conditions across Lebanon’s key agricultural regions—particularly the Bekaa Valley and parts of North Lebanon. Smallholder farmers face rising operational costs, crop yield failures, and increasingly depleted groundwater sources.
WeWorld commissioned a short documentary video series to highlight the environmental and socio-economic dimensions of this growing crisis, alongside the NGO’s technical interventions in sustainable water management and agricultural support.
Production & Narrative Approach
I directed, filmed, and edited two short documentary films on-site, conducting field interviews with local farmers, agricultural specialists, and environmental experts. The cinematography emphasizes the stark contrast between the arid land and the persistent labor of local farming communities.
Topics Covered in the Video Series:
Agricultural Interventions: Field documentation of WeWorld’s infrastructure support, including efficient irrigation systems and water management capacity-building for local cooperatives.
The Human Cost of Water Scarcity: Personal testimony from farmers in the Bekaa Valley struggling to sustain seasonal crops amid plummeting water tables.
