big win at the 48 Hour Film Project Beirut 2025
In August 2025, Beirut hosted the 48 Hour Film Project, the world’s biggest timed filmmaking competition. Teams had only 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short film based on assigned elements: a genre, a prop, a character, and a line of dialogue.
Our team, Tarbush Productions, directed by Jad Banjarian, took on the challenge with the horror short film “Confessions.”
Awards and Recognition
“Confessions” stood out at the festival, winning:
- 🏆 Best Special Effects (SFX)
- 🏆 Best Screenwriting
- 🏆 Best Use of Prop (Umbrella)
- 🥈 1st Runner-Up Overall
Thanks to these wins, our film also qualified for “Yes We Cannes,” the international showcase at the Cannes Film Festival, where top films from around the world are screened.
About the Film – Confessions
In just 48 hours, we created a horror story that combined suspense, fear, and a creative use of the umbrella prop. With strong visuals and sound design, Confessions left a lasting impression on both the audience and the jury.
My Role
I joined the team as Behind-the-Scenes (BTS) and Production Assistant, helping document the intense two-day journey. From script changes at midnight to building eerie sets, every moment showed the passion and teamwork behind the project.
Looking Ahead
Winning 1st Runner-Up at the 48 Hour Film Project Beirut 2025 is a huge milestone for Tarbush Productions. Representing Beirut at “Yes We Cannes” will give us the chance to showcase Lebanese talent on a global stage.
We are proud of what we achieved with Confessions and excited for what’s next.
