Celebrating “Reflection d’un Hom(m)e” at Olhares Do Mediterrâneo
I’m thrilled to share that my short film, Reflection d’un Hom(m)e, was recently screened at the Olhares Do Mediterrâneo Film Festival in Portugal. This renowned event highlights the creative voices of women filmmakers from the Mediterranean region, showcasing a vibrant spectrum of talent and stories.
This film, just five minutes long, takes viewers on a personal journey between Lebanon and France, exploring themes of identity, belonging, and the concept of “home.” With symbolic and poetic imagery, it reflects my experiences and emotions tied to Lebanon and the places and people I’ve encountered along the way. As quoted in Ici Beyrouth, I expressed, “For 15 years, I had everything, and yet something was missing: me.”
A Platform to Raise Awareness
During the festival’s Q&A session, I had the privilege of discussing my creative process and the film’s deeper themes. This platform also allowed me to shed light on Lebanon’s situation—connecting personal narratives to the broader realities faced by my home country.
Cinema: A Medium of Exploration and Advocacy
As shared in my interview with Ici Beyrouth, cinema is more than just an art form for me—it’s a medium to explore and share my relationship with the world. “Cinema is a way to touch hearts and transcend borders, inviting audiences to laugh, cry, and reflect,” I stated. This belief aligns with my commitment to telling stories that resonate universally, while staying deeply rooted in Lebanese identity and resilience.
Lebanese Cinema on the Global Stage
The potential for Lebanese cinema to leave an impact globally is immense. Our stories, steeped in authenticity and cultural richness, are acts of resistance and preservation. As I continue my journey as a filmmaker, I aim to contribute to this narrative, bridging gaps and fostering understanding through visual storytelling.
I invite you to discover Reflection d’un Hom(m)e and join the conversation about the transformative power of cinema.
