Internally Displaced Persons
Documenting the Displaced: Photographing IDPs in Lebanon
I was commissioned, as photo documentary specialist and photo journalist, to photograph the internally displaced people (IDPs) from South Lebanon who sought refuge in schools after being forced to flee their homes due to war.
Capturing their stories was both a challenging and sensitive task. Their circumstances are heart-wrenching, and, as a photographer, my responsibility was to approach each moment with care, ensuring I asked the right questions and respected their emotional state.
While we often hear about these stories online, meeting the displaced in person brings a profound understanding of their humanity. They are no different from anyone else, simply caught in a crisis beyond their control.
Today, Lebanon faces a critical humanitarian situation, with over 1 million people displaced by conflict. Through my photography, I strive to shed light on these untold stories and bring awareness to their struggles.
